Abstract
At the current, one of the major questions facing towns and cities is what the future for their city centers and core urban areas in a post-Covid world. Many towns and cities will need to react to these changes and redefine the role of their open spaces. Although to prepare a balanced future with a connecting network of prospering places in the historic environment, good future planning and design decisions should be ideal. This contribution, developed within the research project “Transformation of Urban Heritage and Climate Change,” aims to present strategies and proposals for enhancing the quality of urban space within the UNESCO area of Florence. Dynamic and sustainable approaches for creating cycling and pedestrian routes, revitalizing streets and squares, and strengthening small spaces and narrow streets in the historic center through green infrastructure emerge as essential actions for fostering a more resilient historic environment.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
