APPENDIX. THE CUPOLA CHURCH: AN ARCHITECTURAL DESCRIPTION

The work offers the architectural description of the Cupola Church, iin Yeghegis. The church takes its name from its architectural structure. Its original dedication is not known, but various other names have been applied to it in scholarly literature and by the local population, such as Surb Karapet (Holy Precursor) and Surb Nshan (Holy Sign). The church is dated to the last decades of the thirteenth century and is located in the northeastern part of the village of Yeghegis. The three churches of Yeghegis – the Zorats‘, the Cupola, and the church of the Mother of God (Astuatsatsin) are connected in a territorial alignment. More precisely, the Cupola Church stands between the church of St Astuatsatsin to the west and Zorats‘ Church to the east.
