The current essay explores the transformation of the locus amoenus in William Blake’s visionary poetry. Once a place of harmony and contemplation, the idyllic landscape in Blake becomes a symbolic site of illusion, desire, and potential redemption. Through works such as The Four Zoas and The Book of Urizen, nature is revealed not as a neutral background, but as a dynamic expression of theological and imaginative tensions. Ultimately, the locus amoenus is transfigured into a cosmotheandric unity, where the divine, the human, and the natural are reconciled.

Abstract
The current essay explores the transformation of the locus amoenus in William Blake’s visionary poetry. Once a place of harmony and contemplation, the idyllic landscape in Blake becomes a symbolic site of illusion, desire, and potential redemption. Through works such as The Four Zoas and The Book of Urizen, nature is revealed not as a neutral background, but as a dynamic expression of theological and imaginative tensions. Ultimately, the locus amoenus is transfigured into a cosmotheandric unity, where the divine, the human, and the natural are reconciled.I documenti in FLORE sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
