Love and Courage. Ethical Figures of Contradiction in the Early Hegel

My goal in this paper is to understand contradiction in relation to love and courage. Love and courage are two crucial, recurring themes in Hegel’s early writings, spanning from the Bern period to his last years in Frankfurt. I want to scrutinize some of Hegel’s unpublished texts from this phase in order to show that these two key figures of ethical life cannot be understood independently of the idea of contradiction.
