Continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), besides other kidney support therapies (KST), is a widely used extracorporeal support therapy in critically ill patients with acute kidney injury (AKI). Its use has evolved in the last decades; thus, a standardized nomenclature and established terminology are needed to improve the quality of care and share information in clinical practice and research. This chapter describes membranes’ performance characteristics, treatment flows, modalities, and doses in CRRT.
