The article analyzes the translation of Dante's "Divine Comedy" by the Ukrainian translator Maksym Stricha, highlighting the many merits of this 20-years work, and also drawing comparisons with previous translations if Dante's oeuvre. The author reaches the conclusion that with the appearance of Stricha's translation, preceded by many studies of Dante's literary legacy, Ukrainian literature has largely overcome the gap that "distinguished" it from neighboring Polish and Russian literatures, where, especially in the last century, there was a significant flowering of translations of the Divine Comedy.
