The book illustrates the outcomes of the research developed for the National Biodiversity Future Center (NBFC). The research investigates urban regeneration through an integrated and multidisciplinary approach defining strategies, methods, and tools for enhancing biodiversity and mitigating environmental stressors in urban environments. The theoretical framework is grounded in the evolution of the Nature-based Solutions (NbS) concept as an overarching paradigm for the sustainable management of urban ecosystems. The approach adopted is holistic and systemic: the built environment is conceived as a hybrid and dynamic system in which nature and the built environment operate as co-evolutionary and interdependent components.
