Starting from the Fröhlich’s theory, the thermodynamic potentials are analytically given in generalized forms, comprehending the case of a dielectric material with either anisotropic or nonlinear response. The obtained relationships can be employed for describing different classes of anisotropic materials. Two peculiar cases are also considered: the possibility of highlighting an hyperbolic thermodynamic-dielectric response when specific anisotropic features are involved; the direct calculation of nonlinear coefficients for a physical system within a Debye-Langevin model.

Abstract

Starting from the Fröhlich’s theory, the thermodynamic potentials are analytically given in generalized forms, comprehending the case of a dielectric material with either anisotropic or nonlinear response. The obtained relationships can be employed for describing different classes of anisotropic materials. Two peculiar cases are also considered: the possibility of highlighting an hyperbolic thermodynamic-dielectric response when specific anisotropic features are involved; the direct calculation of nonlinear coefficients for a physical system within a Debye-Langevin model.
