Abstract
Since its emergence in American newspapers in the late 19th century, the comic strip has been the subject of criticism and condemnation. It only entered the art world in the mid-20th century, becoming a defining language of Pop Art and reflecting shifting aesthetics — prompting questions about the nature of artwork and the distinction between art and non-art. Through the interplay of text and image that actively engages the reader's imagination, comics give form to phenomena that would otherwise remain imperceptible. By reshaping our perception of time and space, comics serve as valuable tools for re-examining themes and issues, such as those linked to the current socio-ecological crisis. This paper focuses specifically on the history of the adventure and science fiction genres in relation to the history of science, and on the critical re-evaluation of comics that began in the 1960s.I documenti in FLORE sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
