Introduzione

L’edizione del manoscritto che documenta l’adattamento teatrale dei Mémoires di Carlo Goldoni che Giorgio Strehler ha realizzato e anche provato sulla scena, è apparsa, a cura di Stella Casiraghi, nella nutrita collana diretta da Siro Ferrone, preceduta da una lunga introduzione in cui lo stesso Ferrone ricostruisce la lunga vicenda degli spettacoli che il regista triestino ha dedicato, durante la lunga stagione vissuta al Piccolo Teatro di Milano, alla rilettura del grande riformatore teatrale del nostro Settecento. L’analisi del saggio introduttivo si sofferma sui legami di quella pratica con alcuni campioni della teoresi teatrale novecentesca, in particolare francese, intrecciata però con numerosi riferimenti alle vicende della critica e dello spettacolo italiani. The edition of the manuscript of the theatrical adaptation of Carlo Goldoni’s Mémoires which Giorgio Strehler realized and then rehearsed on stage, has been published, edited by Stella Casiraghi, in the rich series directed by Siro Ferrone, who also introduces this work with a wide and accurate Preface; here he reconstructs the various spectacles which the Triestine director, during his active years in Milan at the Piccolo Teatro, dedicated to the re-interpretation of the great reformer of the eighteenth-century Italian theatre. The analysis of the introductive essay alights on the bonds of Strehler’s practice with some of the most important theatrical philosophies of the century, particularly the French ones, with several references to the Italian criticism and spectacle.
