Isoxazoles, benzisoxazoles, isoxazolines, and isoxazolidines are classes of heterocyclic compounds having a remarkable number of applications and are very versatile building blocks in organic synthesis. The major developments on the chemistry of these heterocycles reported in the literature from 1996 to 2006 are reviewed. Particular attention is paid to synthetic methods and reactivity of ring systems and substituents which are illustrated with selected examples. Theoretical methods, experimental structural methods, thermodynamic aspects, and applications of this class of heterocycles are also covered.

Abstract
Isoxazoles, benzisoxazoles, isoxazolines, and isoxazolidines are classes of heterocyclic compounds having a remarkable number of applications and are very versatile building blocks in organic synthesis. The major developments on the chemistry of these heterocycles reported in the literature from 1996 to 2006 are reviewed. Particular attention is paid to synthetic methods and reactivity of ring systems and substituents which are illustrated with selected examples. Theoretical methods, experimental structural methods, thermodynamic aspects, and applications of this class of heterocycles are also covered.I documenti in FLORE sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
