Salix alba, S. apennnina, S. eleagnos, S. purpurea and S. triandra are usually used in bioengineering in Central and Northern Appennine. The survey was carried out in "La Piana" nursery (Camporgiano, LU). The research lasted 2 growing seasons and consisted of 2 phases. During the first one rooting ability related to different time of cutting was investigated: surviving and growth data were collected respectively on 17 clones and on 11 of these. In the second phase different methods of cuttings conservation were tested on 7 clones. Intespecific and intraspecific differences were observed.
