An Introductory note: Emphasis on some sustainable tools of the constantly changing relationships in the young Ecopolis

It is more than two decades since issues of sustainability and sustainable development have become part of our common expression of good intentions. Further, the importance of improving the future of our cities is now well established. Even if the debate covers a range of subjects and scenarios to be faced, related to urban, environmental, social and economic problems, we are still searching how possible questions might be better understood and solved. While the whole question of sustainability and its complexity in planning and designing our cities needs to be more understood, the importance of “ecological conception of doing” has to achieve effective solutions willing to implement them.To make cities more sustainable a new range of cultural priorities is required and their future certainly depends on the best utilisation of human energies. Therefore, cities need to develop more efficient policies and strategies for a new urban living, and this includes environmental knowledge.
