This contribution is on how today's cities require improvement in terms of social-economical and structural issues. The chapter deals on considering how a large built area in the city of Lucca of the 60's and 70's with residential character needs to be improved. A strategic plan framework should give an idea on what can be done for the local community to enjoy the environment and the urban lifestyle. Objectives and principles are essential to create urban design in a sustainable scale.
