La Commedia dell’Arte

Il saggio è espressamente dedicato alle fonti iconografiche per la storia della Commedia dell’Arte e si fonda su una inchiesta accurata intorno alla figurazione che venne prodotta a partire dalla seconda metà del Cinquecento intorno al teatro di mestiere. La lettura delle fonti riguarda la individuazione dei tratti pertinenti individuali dei personaggi così come le situazioni sceniche che a questi vengono ‘addossate’ da chi quel teatro volle ‘rappresentare’. Il saggio discute direttamente o implicitamente la bibliografia critica sul tema, affrontando in originali termini divulgativi questioni che la storia del teatro e dello spettacolo (ma anche la storia della figurazione pittorica) ha a lungo affrontato senza mai giungere ad una messa a punto chiara. The essay is clearly dedicated to the iconographical sources for the history of the Commedia dell’Arte and it is focused on an accurate research regarding those works produced around the professional theatre since the second half of the Sixteenth-century. The literature of these sources concerns both the peculiar features of the characters and the scenic situations assigned to them by those who strongly wanted this precise kind of theatre to be represented. The essay debates, both directly and indirectly, through the use of original popular terms, the critical bibliography existing around this theme, dealing with precise matters which have already been faced by the History of theatre and spectacle (but also by the History of art) without coming to a clear setting of the problem.
