The paper analyses the variations in monthly number of tourism nights in Firenze and Italy in order to identify and compare the seasonal cycle. The study applies the TRAMO-SEATS decomposition technique to disaggregated series of residents and non-residents in Italy. The findings show a specific seasonal pattern for Firenze (significantly different from the Italy’s one) that have implications for decision makers in terms of effective resource allocation.
