The city swings between celebrating and encouraging values of difference, and re pressing and regulating them. In this oscillation the matrices of difference had slowly gained and defined new urban spatial dimension. Mental measurements, physical length, human geographies, cultural colors had built scenarios of difference, space of cultures geographies of another Florence. They had defined a new viewpoint of the urban space and told stories of cities far from the “traditional memory” that traps Florence within an image of identity no longer adequate for the complex nature of the “the new city” which yearns for change. To whom does the city of difference belong?
