Despite of the importance that leaf wetness duration (LWD) holds in the plant diseases management and forecasting, no standard for its measurement has been widely accepted, and different measurements principles, sensor designs and positioning are responsible for different results. The differences between the observed LWD and the LWD recorded by sensors, and the difference between the measurements of different positioned sensors, had lead to the exigency to verify the possible influences that those differences could have on the forecasting of LWD related plant diseases. In this work a particular attention was addressed to the performance of different sensor positioning and to their effect on the quality of epidemiological simulations.

Abstract
Despite of the importance that leaf wetness duration (LWD) holds in the plant diseases management and forecasting, no standard for its measurement has been widely accepted, and different measurements principles, sensor designs and positioning are responsible for different results. The differences between the observed LWD and the LWD recorded by sensors, and the difference between the measurements of different positioned sensors, had lead to the exigency to verify the possible influences that those differences could have on the forecasting of LWD related plant diseases. In this work a particular attention was addressed to the performance of different sensor positioning and to their effect on the quality of epidemiological simulations.I documenti in FLORE sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
