L'Accademia della Crusca dopo la "Proposta"

Le sferzanti critiche al metodo lessicografico della Crusca contenute nella "Proposta" (1817-1826) di Vincenzo Monti costrinsero gli accademici a rivedere dalle fondamenta il loro vocabolario che conteneva numerose imprecisioni e termini obsoleti. La nuova edizione del vocabolario che apparve nel 1863 potè così avvalersi di criteri più maturi. The harsh criticisms levied against the lexicographic method of the Crusca Academy, contained in Proposta (1817-1826) by Vincenzo Monti, compelled the Florentine academicians to review their criteria and to redesign their Vocabolario from its very foundations, getting rid of obsolete and incorrect words. However, it took several decades for the new edition to be prepared and when, in 1863, the first volume finally appeared, it was precisely this change of route that would slow down and hinder its completion.
