Creatività e conoscenza. A proposito di "scoperta" scientifica

The concern of philosophy of science in the subject of creativity has been centered on the hoary debate about a “logic” of scientific discovery, where however it appeared as vicarious of other problems (mainly, the problem of the justification of scientific theories and hypothesis). In the 1980s, the American philosopher of science Larry Laudan claimed that discovery, if it is a problem at all, cannot be a subject matter of epistemology, but only of psychology and sociology. Nowadays, part of the heritage of epistemology has been received by the cognitive sciences (and by the naturalized epistemologies), within which a renaissance of interest for discovery and creativity have been registered. What general philosophy of science continues to do, is cautioning against the Romantic myth of an instant and mysterious creativity, as it sees it instead as an attribute of a whole process, and not of an improbable “eureka moment”.
