Conceptual urban change through heritage.Creative masterplanning for the Leopolda station area in Florence

This chapter is focused on the way to read urban regeneration and development through heritage and cultural approach. By this method it is attempted to enlighten preliminary masterplanning undertaken based on the relationships between local strategies and policies and community needs in order to preserve and evaluate inner former railway area that have recently been target for urban rehabilitation. Contribution is centred on a critical reflection on mastreplanning process and the impact of interventions of the existing urban fabric; On renforcement of compact form principles which can provide safety of sustainable and creative re-development.
