Abstract

Catharsis goes, therefore, a sort of "education of the passions" in the sense of learning a 'passive recruitment of non-emotional content that goes with the tragic experience, but characterized by a constant act of interpretation, decoding of the same passions within a "hermeneutic of the self", however, understood not as a mere theoretical exercise or "rational" (ie, not marked with a simplistic and reductionist "rationalization of passions") but as an exercise in sensitivity, refinement of skills experiencing their own experiences in complex cognitive and emotional versatility and multidimensionality, made up of shades, tones and effects articulated and varied.
