This book mainly zeroes on what and how many archaeologists, anthropologists and other different scholars have perceived rock art in Africa. Although this book concentrates on Uganda’s rock art, other rock art sites in east Africa will also be looked at especially in chapter three where the writers give a comparative analysis of the geometric designs on different sites. Long time has passed since Rock Art was a theme of research for scholars in Uganda. When we started working on documentation of archaeological sites showing rock art in the Country, some five years ago, most of the sites lacked a good documentation and some of them were even ignored. A joint venture between Italian researchers and Uganda Museum conservators made this research and detailed documentation possible. We thank the chance and willingness of all of us who made our best efforts to work on it. Rock art in eastern Uganda has been redocumented by our research group using photographic method of documentation and describing each site in terms of patterns shape, rock characteristics, landscape context and cultural framework. What we see in this book is only a general presentation of what we have documented, in terms of scientific data and analysis. We hope in this way to give the general public a sharp idea of what rock art in Uganda is. More scientific papers on international magazines will come in the next months, to offer the scientific international community as much details as possible on our research and results. This book is devoted to a great chapter of the Uganda’s history, which was there long before we would ever have expected, some 3 up to 5 millennia before present. We wish to dedicate it to our Nation and our beloved Country.

Abstract
We wish to dedicate it to our Nation and our beloved Country.I documenti in FLORE sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
