Data on experimental tests on eighteen reinforced concrete beams made of high strength concrete (HSC) and self-consolidating concrete (SCC) are presented in this paper. The beams have been subjected to flexural tests with testing load applied according to the four points scheme, using monotonic loadings for the tests on six beams and cyclic loadings for the tests on twelve beams. In these experiments the cylindrical compressive strength of concrete varies from 40 to 115 N/mm2. Results in terms of flexural strength and ductility level are presented and discussed, according to the different types of concrete. The experimental tests show that the ultimate strength and the ductility of SCC beams and HSC beams are comparable. Some degree of difference has been detected in terms of cracking patterns and type of damage. In the beams made of self-consolidating concrete the cracks were located in the whole zone with constant bending moment, whereas more concentrated cracking patterns were observed for the beams made of traditional vibrated concrete.

Abstract
In the beams made of self-consolidating concrete the cracks were located in the whole zone with constant bending moment, whereas more concentrated cracking patterns were observed for the beams made of traditional vibrated concrete.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
