Global Warming as a Globalized Risk and Global Threat for Future Generation

This contribution attempts to provide an analysis of some of the emotive and cognitive processes that make it so difficult to deal with global challenges. The essence and nature of these difficulties vary in relations to the different types of challenges. In this chapter, I analyze the phenomenon of global warming, while trying to identify the difficulties connected to taking responsibility toward/for future generations. Nevertheless, I also take into account more briefly the two other global challenges: the risk of a large-scale nuclear conflict and the threat of the depletion of the ozone layer.
