Emilio Isotta. Architettura all'Isola d'Elba 1948-1968

Il volume ricostruisce per la prima volta la figura di Emilio Isotta (1910-1988), architetto milanese, fiorentino di formazione, incantato dall’Isola d’Elba, dove trascorre lunghi periodi costruendo gran parte delle sue architetture. Presentare i progetti realizzati all’Elba tra gli anni Cinquanta e gli anni Sessanta non significa solo riscoprire l’opera di un architetto ‘trascurato’ dalla storiografia. Significa aggiungere un ulteriore frammento alla narrazione complessiva del Moderno, nella quale concorrono accanto a figure emergenti personalità meno note, che lavorano ai margini della critica ufficiale, ma che costituiscono un capitolo ineludibile per la comprensione della modernità nella sua complessità. The volume reconstructs for the first time the figure of Emilio Isotta (1910-1988), a Milanese architect, Florentine by training, enchanted by the Island of Elba, where he spends long periods building most of his architecture. Presenting the projects created on Elba between the fifties and the sixties does not only mean rediscovering the work of an architect 'neglected' by historiography. It means adding a further fragment to the overall narrative of the Modern, in which lesser-known personalities concur alongside emerging figures, who work on the margins of official criticism, but who constitute an unavoidable chapter for the understanding of modernity in its complexity.
