Il diario dell’assedio di Ol’ga Berggol’c (1941-44). Possibilità ermeneutiche tra ego-document, testimonianza letteraria e fonte storica

The survey presented here takes into account the Blokade Diary by Ol’ga Berggol’c (1910-1975) as a literary testimony of the Siege of Leningrad. We deal with a unique document on this period, a masterful example of the fu- sion of an aesthetic-literary act and historical analysis. The Diary testifies how Berggol’c progressively becomes aware of the historical reality and shows the re-appropriation of a personal language, not influenced by propaganda, developing an individual point of view on reality. Thanks to an intertextual approach to Berggol’c works which considers her diary notes, published and unpublished poetry and radio speeches in the Blockade period together, we will highlight the “extra-aesthetic” potential of this Text, above all its possibili- ty to be accepted as a meaningful source of historical value.
