The DAPHNE project saw the University of Florence collaborate with the Scuola Superiore di Studi Universitari e di Perfezionamento Sant'Anna for the design of a new product-service system aimed at offering a new diagnostic methodology and a new monitoring management in both clinical and socio-economic terms. The LCA methodology was therefore used to compare the environmental impact of the traditional examination system with that of the new service, quantifying consumption of electricity and fuel. This was accompanied by social impact considerations that are fundamental in the field of Design but external to LCA methodology.
