Edward John Trelawny: un avventuriero del XIX Secolo

Il contributo presenta una ricerca effettuata su Edward John Trelawny (1792-1881) avventuriero e scrittore legato alla città di Firenze attraverso l'amicizia con alcuni anglo-fiorentini, tra i quali Seymour Stocker Kirkup, attraverso lo studio dell'epistolario "Letters of Edward John Trelawny" curato da H. Buxton Forman per Oxford University Press (1910). Trelawny, amico di Byron con il quale partecipò alla lotta per la liberazione della Grecia dall'Impero ottomano, ben rappresenta la figura dell''eroe romantico' come emerge dai suoi scritti autobiografici pubblicati da Mary Shelley, grande amica e suo primo editore. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The paper presents a study undertaken on Edward John Trelawny (1792-1881), an adventurer and writer linked to the city of Florence through his friendship with a number of Anglo-Florentines, including Seymour Stocker Kirkup, through the study of the epistolary "Letters of Edward John Trelawny" edited by H. Buxton Forman for Oxford University Press (1910). Trelawny, a friend of Byron's with whom he took part in the struggle for the liberation of Greece from the Ottoman Empire, well represents the figure of the 'romantic hero' as it emerges from his autobiographical writings published by Mary Shelley, his great friend and first publisher.
