Le Vite del Vasari nel corpus LBC italiano-tedesco ovvero l’importanza dei corpora paralleli per la linguistica e la traduzione specialistica

The paper describes the initial stages of the parallelisation of the Italian–German corpus LBC (Lessico dei Beni Culturali), focusing in particular on the alignment of Giorgio Vasari’s Vite (1568) with the German translation by Daniel Kupper (2008). A brief introduction to the importance of text corpora, particularly parallel corpora, for linguistic research and specialised translation (chapter 1) is followed by a description of the technical steps taken by the LBC German group in the parallelisation process (chapter 2) and by some observations from a contrastive linguistic perspective on the different stylistic (syntactic and semantic) tendencies of the source text and the target text (chapter 3). The paper concludes with reflections on the possible use of the parallel corpus in future phases of the project (chapter 4).
