This paper presents the valorisation project for the National Archaeological Area of Crocifisso del Tufo in Orvieto. Located along the northern slopes of the tuff cliff, the necropolis is an extraordinary testimony to Etruscan civilisation in the 6th-5th centuries BC. The project develops through an integrated masterplan that pursues four macro-objectives: conservation, accessibility, communication and digitisation, and valorisation. The plan adopts an organic approach that aims to create a harmonious dialogue between the archaeological heritage and the surrounding landscape. The project involves the redevelopment of visiting paths with stabilised earth paving (ecological, natural, and recyclable) and the elimination of architectural barriers through accessible ramps. A landscaping project has been developed that enhances native vegetation, introducing historically coherent species such as olive trees, pomegranates and vines, creating a botanical path, parallel to the archaeological one. Through minimal lighting fixtures, the lighting design also aims to enhance the evocative nature of the Etruscan monuments and the landscape. The first phase of the work involved the restyling of the ‘Mario Bizzarri’ Antiquarium, transforming it into a modern documentation and visitor centre. The second phase is dedicated to the creation of paths which, through a new architectural layout, will ensure accessibility to the central garden and the main group of tombs. The project is a virtuous example of the synthesis between archaeology and contemporary architecture, restoring the necropolis not only as a cultural asset to be preserved, but also as a tourist resource and living testimony to Etruscan civilisation.

Abstract
The project is a virtuous example of the synthesis between archaeology and contemporary architecture, restoring the necropolis not only as a cultural asset to be preserved, but also as a tourist resource and living testimony to Etruscan civilisation.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
