Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) is one of the most common emotional disorders with lifetime prevalence ranging from 0.1% to 6.9% and a high likelihood of recurrence. However, GAD is also one of the most misunderstood and misdiagnosed disorders because it has essentially been considered a diagnosis of exclusion of other anxiety disorders. The central core of GAD is pathological worry, which is also the focus of the treatment. Among those tested, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is the treatment of choice for GAD . The present chapter offers an overview on CBT strategies for GAD.
