Extensive literature highlights the pedagogical advantages of extended reality (XR) in education. This contribution provides an overview of Englishlanguage scientific studies investigating the use of XR in education to territory, with a focus on its specific pedagogical benefits. To this end, a literature review was conducted using keywords related to XR technologies, landscape education, placebased education, and heritage education. The 23 selected articles were categorized into geographical-scientific and historical-artistic perspectives and analyzed based on their methodology. The reviewed literature consistently demonstrates that XR in education to territory offers pedagogical advantages, including increased engagement, improved understanding, spatial awareness, motivation, and enhanced learning outcomes. While limitations were acknowledged in some studies, the overall findings support the educational value of integrating XR in landscape and cultural heritage education. Future research should prioritize empirical studies with experimental or quasi-experimental designs to establish more robust conclusions. For instance, comparing a control group without XR integration to an experimental group incorporating XR would provide empirical evidence of XR’s educational benefits.

Abstract
For instance, comparing a control group without XR integration to an experimental group incorporating XR would provide empirical evidence of XR’s educational benefits.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
